All measuring devices for air and gases are calibrated on the A. Kirchner & Tochter GmbH test bench, whose master standards are directly traceable to the PTB.
The test bench operates with the following master systems:
A. Critical nozzles
Critical nozzles are among the most precise international transfer standards. Measuring range: 1 m³/h – 1,200 m³/h Standard uncertainty: 0.28% of measured value Expanded uncertainty: 0.56% of measured value (k=2)
B. Laminar flow elements
Laminar flow elements are the ideal transfer standard for gas flow measurement at low flow rates. Measuring range: 0.3 l/h – 5,500 l/h Standard uncertainty: 0.21% of measured value Expanded uncertainty: 0.42% of measured value (k=2)
Advantages of both measurement systems:
no moving parts, therefore no wear and high long-term stability
traceable to national and international standards (PTB)
flow is not influenced by back pressure
The test bench is integrated into the internal network of A. Kirchner & Tochter GmbH. After the customer order is recorded in the ERP system, the operator can directly access the customer-specific calibration data from the test bench. A physical formula system stored in the calibration bench software immediately converts these data into the customer-specific scale and transfers them to the computer generating the scales. This electronic data transfer prevents transmission errors caused by manual operation and is an important contribution to quality assurance in A. Kirchner & Tochter flow measurement devices.
