Each device from Kirchner und Tochter has a unique and therefore unambiguous serial number. This allows the device to be identified and its configuration or design-specific characteristics to be determined.

Due to historical reasons, there are three possible formats for the serial number structure (X represents a digit):

XXXXX–XXX–XX five-digit order confirmation number – three-digit device number – two-digit year of manufacture
XXXXX–XX–XX five-digit order confirmation number – two-digit device number – two-digit year of manufacture
XXXXX.X/XX five-digit order confirmation number . one-digit device number / two-digit year of manufacture
