Each device from A. Kirchner & Tochter GmbH has a unique and therefore unambiguous serial number. This enables the identification of the device as well as the determination of its configuration or specific design features.

Historically, there are three possible serial number structures (X represents a digit):

• XXXXX–XXX–XX
  five digits: order confirmation number – three digits: device number – two digits: year of manufacture
• XXXXX–XX–XX
  five digits: order confirmation number – two digits: device number – two digits: year of manufacture
• XXXXX.X/XX
  five digits: order confirmation number . one digit: device number / two digits: year of manufacture
