These differential pressure flow meters are among the most commonly used. They are applied in the measurement of liquids, gases, or steam across various industries. They are suitable for a wide range of conditions, from standard applications (water supply, swimming pools, etc.) to high-pressure and high-temperature processes (steam lines, hydrocarbons, etc.), as well as aggressive fluids. They are cost-effective and highly reliable for measuring natural gas or wet gas. The differential pressure flow meter covers a wide range of pipe diameters.

The device operates on the differential pressure principle, where the pressure difference is proportional to the square of the volumetric flow rate in the pipeline. The DDM series flow meters consist of an orifice plate integrated into a fitting with flange or threaded connection. The upstream and downstream pressure ports on both sides of the orifice can be connected to a differential pressure sensor (manometer, pressure switch, or transmitter).

Measurement reliability depends on a stable flow profile at the measurement point. Straight pipe runs are required: 6× DN upstream and 4× DN downstream (DN = nominal pipe diameter).
